Easter Long Weekend Trip

Mummel Gulf National Park 1480 meters ASL

I am planning a 9 National Park run south of Walcha on the northern tablelands & north of Gloucester near the Mid North Coast, NSW over the Easter long weekend. This is for the World Wide Flora & Fauna program which involves operating a portable Amateur Radio station from a National Park. WWFF is very popular in Europe & the Australian version, VKFF is starting to be a regular activity with radio operators here.

It will be a 682 km round trip, starting from my home early Friday morning. Meeting up with a few guys that are trail riding in the area over the weekend (two are ham`s).

The area that I will be visiting include part of the Gondwana World Heritage listed areas of the hinterlands above the Mid North Coast of NSW. I have spent a great deal of time in this part of the world, great waterfalls, untamed rainforest & an abundance of wildlife, always a pleasure to return there. One thing for certain, no lack of trees to hang antennas from.

The parks I will be working from are,

Friday 3rd

Oxley Wild Rivers     VKFF-406 – Mid Afternoon on 40 meters
Mummel Gulf             VKFF-368 – Evening on 80, 40, 15 meters, overnight stay

Monday 6th

Nowendoc               VKFF-395 – Morning on 80, 40, 15 meters
Barrakee                 VKFF-013 – Afternoon 40, 15 meters

Frequencies I will be using will be: 3.644, 7.144, 21.244 & 144.150 MHz SSB +/- QRM

I have activated Oxley Wild Rivers, Mummel Gulf & Cottan-Bimbang before & have stayed at Tapin Tops previously, the rest of the parks are unknown as to access and camping, will have to see how it pans out.

Will post alerts to parksnpeaks.org   I will also post spots to parksnpeaks when I have phone service & I will have APRS running.

Hope to work as many stations as I can over the weekend, but also want to take a little time to enjoy the surroundings. I have no set times for the activations, the itinerary above is a guideline only.

I hope everyone has an enjoyable Easter break.

73`s & 44`s,
